Qashqavi: Bahraini ambassador summoned just for consultation

Deputy Foreign Minister for Parliamentary and Consular Affairs Hassan Qashqavi said the summoning of the Bahraini ambassador to Manama was only for the purpose of exchanging views with him, AVA Diplomatic reports.

He said on Sunday that the summoning served no such purposes of lowering or cutting ties with Iran.

He said this was a quite common practice in diplomatic circles especially when it is said they have summoned him for some exchange of views.

‘This certainly did not mean cutting or lowering level of bilateral relations,’ the foreign ministry official added.

However, he added, Bahrain has certain criticisms to offer to Iran because of our support for oppressed Bahraini people. Still, Qashqavi noted, Iran is going to continue with its support to Bahrain’s nation while retaining its bilateral ties.
