Fourth quadripartite steering committee meeting

The Islamic Republic of Iran hosted in Tehran the fourth Quadripartite Steering Committee meeting for the Solutions Strategy for Afghan Refugees to Support Voluntary Repatriation, Sustainable Reintegration and Assistance to Host Countries (SSAR) in Tehran, AVA Diplomatic reports.

 The Governments of the Islamic Republics of Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan and UNHCR agreed to seize on the momentum in 2015 towards finding solutions to Afghan displacement. UNHCR expressed appreciation to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for hosting the meeting and acknowledged the commitment and support shown by the Islamic Republics of Iran and Pakistan to Afghan refugees for over three decades. The UN Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan also spoke on the role of development agencies and future plans of the UN in Afghanistan. Participants highlighted the significance of the SSAR as a platform to implement lasting solutions for the Afghan refugees and agreed to support the gradual, safe, dignified and sustainable return of Afghan refugees to Afghanistan.
