South African Ambassador to Iran William Whitehead pointing out that some South African companies intend to transact with China and India said if geographical situation and present capacities in South Khorasan are presented properly the province can attract South African companies, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Referring to the visit of the Iranian trade delegation to South Africa in the month of Shahrivar (August/September), he said businessmen and producers of the province can accompany the delegation through coordination of Tehran Chamber of Commerce.
He said the two ports of Durban and Johannesburg can be good places for the import of saffron from South Khorasan, adding that realization of all this depended on holding several bilateral sessions.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry envoy in South Khorasan, Gholamhossein Ebrahimi, said: “Given that one of our policies is to present the provincial potentials to foreign ambassadors, today the South African ambassador is visiting the province to become closely acquainted with the capacities of the province.”
He said South Khorasan enjoys great potentials in the field of industry, mines and agriculture and that country can be a great help for making investment in the province.
Mohsen Ehtesham, head of Birjand Chamber of Industry, Mines and Agriculture said: “As South Africa is the largest producer of yellow gold, we are the largest producer of red gold (saffron) in the world.”
He referred to the production of pomegranate, barberry, the jujube and tire as well as chicken and eggs, ceramics and mineral stones as other capacities of the province.
