 Vietnam a lucrative market for Iran-made tractors

Vietnamese Ambassador to Tehran Nguyen Hong Thach says Vietnam is willing to use Iran-made tractors on its farmlands, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Speaking to Managing Director of Iran Tractor Manufacturing Industrial Group (ITMIG), Abolfath Ebrahimi, in Tabriz on Sunday, Nguyen Hong Thach said that although there are tractor manufacturing companies in Vietnam, but his country is willing to encourage those engaged in the business to use Iranian tractors on Vietnamese farmlands.

Nguyen Hong Thach said that he hoped Iranian tractor manufacturing industry will be able to compete with Vietnam-made tractors and look at the country as its target market.

Meanwhile, Ebrahimi said that ITMIG is capable of producing tractors able to work under various climatic conditions of Vietnam.

He said the ITMIG can compete with other European and Chinese rivals in terms of high quality and cheep price.

The export volume of the ITMIG has seen a 154% increase in the last 9 months, according to an ITMIG official.

The ITMIG has exported nearly 2,800 tractors worth $41 million to foreign countries.

The group consists of tractor manufacturing companies in Tabriz, Kurdistan and Orumiyeh.

Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka and Sudan as well as Iran’s neighboring countries, and African and Central Asian states are among ITMIG’s main customers.

Iran is a major tractor-manufacturer and exporter. Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company (ITM Co.) in the northwestern city of Tabriz has exported many of its products to a large number of countries, and launched assembly lines in various parts of the world, including South America.

Bolivia has recently requested ITM Co. to launch a tractor-manufacturing line in Bolivia.

ITM Co. has also built a tractor-manufacturing company in Venezuela called Veniran.

Veniran is a joint venture company between Venezuela and Iran. Located in the provincial capital of Ciudad Bolivar, the plant manufactures tractors for peasants and socialist cooperatives across Latin America.

Also, the Kurdistan branch of ITMIG, or Kurdistan Tractor-Manufacturing Company (KTMC) exported 200 tractors to Iraq and Afghanistan in October.
