Swiss Ambassador to Iran Julia Hoss voiced the willingness of his country’s economic activists to reinvigorate their ties with Iran as soon as Tehran and the six major world powers cut a final deal to pave the ground for the removal of the sanctions against Iran, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Hoss said expansion of economic ties with Iran is linked to lack of strong base in banking and financial transactions and all the Swiss merchants are waiting for the results of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany).
The Swiss envoy also announced that a commercial delegation will arrive in Tehran next week to get familiar and evaluate conditions for economic relations with Tehran.
“Iran boasts of a huge potential for developing tourism industry and Swiss tourists are keen to visit Iran’s historic and cultural attractions,” he said.
Complaining about decline in trade exchanges between the two countries from three billion dollars three years ago to 500 million dollars this year, he hoped that trade balance would witness remarkable growth once the nuclear talks bear fruit.
Hoss also described Iran as a major, beautiful and influential country in the world.
In July, Iranian Ambassador to Switzerland Gholam Ali Khoshro and Swiss President Didier Burkhalter stressed the need for both Tehran and Bern to utilize each and every capacity and potential to pave the way for the promotion of their bilateral relations in all sectors.
At the meeting in Bern, Khoshro also conveyed a message from President Rouhani to Burkhalter, and voiced Tehran’s enthusiasm for expanding mutual cooperation in all fields.
President Burkhalter, who is also Swiss Foreign Minister, expressed hope that ties between the two countries would witness further expansion during Khoshro’s tenure.
