President Rouhani for solid ties with Latin America

President Hassan Rouhani has called for enhanced solid ties with the Latin American states, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The president made the remarks here on Tuesday when he was receiving credentials of the new Chilean Accredited Ambassador to Iran Christian Barros Mellet.

He termed the role and status of the Latin American countries in the world as very important and noted that Iran has always favored friendly ties with these countries including Chile.

The president said international affairs now require countries to cooperate for development and to tackle their security problems.

He welcomed the decision of the Chilean government to open an embassy in Tehran and said both countries are willing to boost political, economic and scientific cooperation.

Mellet conveyed warm greetings of Chilean president to his Iranian counterpart and stressed Santiago’s determination to boost ties with Tehran.
