Hezbollah role important in protecting regional stability

A senior Iranian lawmaker says the role of Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, in safeguarding peace and stability in the Middle East is “significant”, AVA Diplomatic reports.“Lebanon’s Hezbollah is among the most important factors in [protecting] lasting peace and stability in the region,” said Alaeddin Boroujerdi during a Sunday meeting with Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Fadi Hajj Ali. Boroujerdi, who is the Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said unity was important for Lebanon in the face of enemy plots. He called for the further expansion of bilateral ties between Tehran and Beirut in different areas.

Pointing to over two years of foreign-sponsored crisis in Syria, the Iranian lawmaker said, “The developments in Syria showed that world powers cannot use war and massacre to overcome the will of nations.”

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. The United Nations says more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced in the deadly violence. Hajj Ali, for his part, underlined the Islamic Republic’s key role in protecting regional peace and stability, hailing the current level of bilateral relations between the two nations.
