 Iran, India call for stronger relations

Iran and India have called for the expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries based on the commonalities shared by Tehran and New Delhi, AVA Diplomatic reports.In a meeting with India’s new ambassador to Tehran on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi highlighted the common stances of the two countries on regional and global issues.

Salehi described the common historical and cultural points between Iran and India as further ground for the two nations to boost their bilateral relations.

He said the potentials and capacities of Iran and India are complementary to one another, and called for the expansion of bilateral ties in various areas.

The new Indian ambassador to Tehran, Shri D.P. Srivastava, for his part, emphasized New Delhi’s willingness to boost ties with the Islamic Republic in the fields of politics, economy and trade.

Srivastava also presented his credentials during the meeting with the Iranian foreign minister.
