 Afghanistan Ready to Invest in Iran’s Free Trade Zone

Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Tehran Nasir Ahmad Nour said Kabul is ready to invest in Iran’s Southern port city of Chabahar, AVA Diplomatic reports.Ahmad Nour pointed to Iran-Afghanistan trade transactions as growing, and said Kabul is interested in making investments in Chabahar Free Trade Zone in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

Early in May, Iranian and Afghan provincial officials in a meeting in Afghanistan’s Herat province signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop bilateral ties and mutual cooperation.

The agreement was signed by Governor-General of Iran’s Northeastern Khorassan Razavi province Mohammad Hossein Forouzanmehr and Governor-General of Afghanistan’s Herat province Daud Shah Saba during the Iranian official’s visit to Herat.

The 14-clause MoU covers cooperation in various fields of economy, environment, agriculture, development, education and culture.
