 Mexico ambassador confers with culture minister, calling for enhanced cultural cooperation

Mexican Ambassador to Tehran Ulises Canchola Gutierrez conferred on Saturday with Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati on ways to expand cultural cooperation, AVA Diplomatic reports.Iran is very rich in terms of culture and civilization which are pre-requisite for expansion of cultural relations between the two countries, the Mexican ambassador said.

Referring to his visit to some Iranian universities such as Tehran and Qazvin, he said the visits indicate to what extend Mexico is determined to broaden multi-lateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Jannati said that enhanced cultural relations between Iran and Mexico would leave positive impacts on developing economic cooperation at regional and international level.

Diplomatic relations between Iran and Mexico dated back to over one century ago, he said.

The first cultural agreement between the two countries inked in the year 1975 which is regarded as the foundation of cultural relations, Jannati said.

Grounds for expansion of cooperation in culture and arts is well prepared and the two sides should seize the opportunity, he said.

Iran welcomes expansion of cultural cooperation with Mexico in all fields, he said.

Jannati said that Iran is ready to broaden cooperation in translation of books to Mexican and Persian languages to help exchange cultural interaction.

Due to extensive historical monuments in Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to develop tourism cooperation with Mexico, said the minister.

He expressed the hope to witness further expansion cultural cooperation between Iran and Mexico.
