Ivory Coast seeks IKCO assistance in renovating transport system

Ivorian Ambassador to Iran Abdoullah Cissé has urged Iranian automaker Iran Khodro (IKCO), to play a key role in the renovation of the West African country’s transportation system, AVA diplomatic reports.“We urgently need assistance from other countries, including Iran, to secure development and combat poverty and financial woes. We believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran establishes its relations with other countries on the basis of human principals and mutual respect,” Cissé said in a visit to IKCO’s main site in Tehran on Tuesday.

The Ivorian ambassador added that his country is eager to forge relations with IKCO, and hopes such ties would help secure industrial growth and development.

“Ivory Coast is a untapped market for IKCO products, and welcome warmly them in our country,” Cissé noted.

Founded in 1962, IKCO is currently regarded as one the biggest automakers in the Middle East.

The Iranian company won an award from Tehran’s Third International Nanotechnology Festival in 2010, as the leading company in nano-related auto industry.

In its five-year future growth prospective, the company envisions reaching an annual manufacturing capacity of three million units, with exports of a million units per year.
