The Iranian Volleyball Federation signed an agreement with UNICEF Iran Office and the Ministry of Health to join worldwide efforts to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, AVA Diplomatic Reports.A trilateral agreement was signed by the president of Volleyball Federation Dr. Mohammad Reza Davarzani, the Director General of Ministry of Health’s Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Gouya and UNICEF Representative in Iran, Dr. Mohamed El Munir Safieldin.
Iranian actress and UNICEF Iran goodwill Ambassador Mahtab Keramati attended the signing ceremony.
“Sports is more than just entertainment, it is a style of life. Sports champions are a role model for their fans. They have the power to positively influence the life style of their young fans“ said UNICEF Representative, Dr. Safieldin,” We are very pleased of this partnership with the Volleyball Federation. We believe Sports champions can do a lot to educate young people on how to protect themselves against HIV and lead a healthy life”.
Meanwhile Head of the Volleyball Federation expressed eagerness to join this huge health movement. He said: “the message from the national players is to fight the spread of this virus. We believe we can greatly contribute to the promotion of public health”.
Meanwhile expressing satisfaction of this partnership, Head of the Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Gouya said, “I hope with the support of these popular volleyball players, we can improve the knowledge of young people on prevention of HIV/AIDS.”
According to this agreement, the Volleyball Federation will help raise awareness and enhance the knowledge of young people and their families to protect themselves against HIV/AIDS.
