 UNFPA and government partners reaffirm partnership

On September 28th, a meeting of the Steering Committee of the 5th UNFPA Country Programme was held, co-chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and UNFPA.H.E. Mr. Peiman Seadat, Director General, Environment and Sustainable Development Affairs, MFA, and Dr. M. Hulki Uz, UNFPA Representative, presided over the meeting, AVA Diplomatic Reports.The Steering Committee meeting was a chance for UNFPA and its implementing partners to review the achievements of 2014, discuss priorities for the remainder of the year, as well as UNFPA’s new Strategic Plan (SP) – an overall guiding strategy developed by UNFPA Headquarters, which country offices are expected to gradually adapt to.

According to Dr. M. Hulki Uz, UNFPA Representative, “UNFPA is increasingly focusing on results, and the new Strategic Plan is a framework with which we will be measuring our achievements.”H.E. Mr. Seadat reported that the majority of outputs were on track, and stressed the importance of UNFPA’s implementing partners taking full responsibility for their annual work plans.
