 Iran, Finland Reiterate Long-Lasting Diplomatic Ties

Finland’s new ambassador to Tehran, H.E. Mr. Harri Kamarainen submitted his credentials to President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday 10 October 2012 in a ceremonious event at the President’s office, AVA Diplomatic reports.They discussed among other things the long-lasting good diplomatic relations between their countries and Ambassador Kamarainen also pointed out Finland’s aspirations to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the term 2013-14.

Ambassador Kamarainen took office 1 September 2012 as previous ambassador, H.E. Mr. Harri Salmi transferred to Sofia, Bulgaria. Submitting credentials to the President is an important event which confirms the Ambassador’s position in Iran and provides also an opportunity for bilateral talks.

Discussions between Ambassador Kamarainen and President Ahmadinejad also touched upon the countries’ common interests in promoting peace and stability in the world and both saw potential in strengthening ties between Iran and Finland in the fields of economy and culture.
