In a ceremony to commemorate Nelson Mandela held in Majlis’ Constitution Hall, South African Ambassador to Iran William Max Whitehead said Mandela pursued his resistance ideas from the day he entered university, Ava Diplomatic reported.
“Mandela’s revolutionary commitments were so strong that helped him make South Africa a united country, providing a better life for its people,” Whitehead reiterated.
The South African envoy said Mandela spent his life for his ideals and founded the African National Council in 1948 and called the Council one of those councils that were based on democracy.
“We have sacrificed much blood for our freedom. When Mandela was in prison he did not give up his resistance and his thoughts prevailed even in those days,” Whitehead said, explaining that Mandela endeavored for his country’s freedom while the people backed him in doing so.
