US should stop hostile measures against world nations: Venezuelan envoy

The Venezuelan ambassador to Tehran slammed US interventions in his country’s interior affairs, describing the expulsion of US diplomats as having a clear message to western countries.

Venezuelan Ambassador to Tehran Amenhotep Zambrano noted the US government’s intervention in Latin America, saying last month the United State once again tried to intervene in our domestic affairs including its surveillance of our financial activities and policies as a Bolivarian country, in an attempt to give a negative representation of our economic advances, Ava Diplomatic reported.

“Our government concluded that a group of US embassy staff in Caracas were involved and wanted to intervene in Venezuela’s domestic affairs. Thus, the government decided to expel the diplomats due to their hostile activities,” Zambrano added.

He further elaborated on Caracas’ reason for expelling the US Diplomats, saying the measure was meant to remind the United States to respect the Venezuelan nation. “We want a respectful attitude toward our democracy. We also work in collaboration with our friends to put an end to US intervention in the region,” he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks he warned Washington, saying the Americans should accept Venezuela’s leading role in the region. “We assume a difference between conducts of a state and its nation. Thus, we have no problems with the American people but the problems is to US the US government’s conduct which goes a separate way from that of its nation and tries to dictate the order it wants,” he reiterated.

At the end of his remarks he stressed that what matters to Caracas is that the US recognizes the sovereignty and independence of the Venezuelan nation. “The message we sent to the US was in fact a message to all western-bloc to stop their disrespectful behavior with the other countries in the world. Washington should stop its measures against other nations including the Venezuelan people,” Zambrano added.
