In a sequel to a series of meetings between FC Esteghlal Managing-director Ali Fathollahzadeh with different ambassadors in Iran, he met with the Brazilian ambassador to Tehran to exchange views.
The Brazilian envoy Santiago Irazabal Mourão explored capacities for further cooperation between the football club and Brazilian soccer players, promising to provide grounds that Esteghlal can recruit more Brazilian soccer players through official channels.
Later in the meeting, negotiations were carried out for the Brazilian embassy’s cooperation with FC Esteghlal for a friendly match with a Brazilian club and the Brazilian envoy is slated to do the coordination for the match.
Furthermore, Fathollahzadeh, authorized by Iranian Soccer Federation director Kaffashian, asked the Brazilian ambassador to set the stage for a friendly between Iranian and Brazilian national soccer teams in Iran.
“We will be very pleased if we can support the Iranian national soccer team. If you do not fall in the same group as Brazil, we will definitely support you,” Mourão said.
“Carlos Queiroz has sent his representative to Brazil. The camp will be determined after the final draw,” he said, speaking of the camp in Brazil, the Iranian squad is going to stay in.
At the end of the meeting, Fatollahzadeh gave Farhad Majidi’s shirt to Mourão as a keepsake.
