 Iran, Brazil to broaden agricultural cooperation

Director General for International Bureau at the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad Ministry Homan Fathi said on Wednesday that Brazilian Agriculture Minister Neri Geller is due to visit Iran next week, AVA Diplomatic reports.Fathi announced the news in a meeting with Brazilian Ambassador to Tehran Santiago Irazabal Mourao.

In the meeting, the two sides reviewed the itinerary of the Brazilian minister visit to Iran.

The Brazilian minister and his entourage are due in Tehran upon the official invitation made by his Iranian counterpart, Fathi said.

The Brazilian delegation is to visit Iranˈs capabilities and facilities in the agricultural sector and also will hold meeting with active businessmen in the field, he said.

The 14-member delegation is to study the grounds for export promotion of agro-products to Brazil, Fathi said.

After the meeting, the Brazilian ambassador said that he is satisfied with the upcoming visit of Brazilian agriculture minister and his entourage to Iran.

He expressed the hope that the visit would lead to expansion of mutual cooperation in the sector, he said.

Iran and Brazil play very significant role in production of foodstuffs and are to broaden cooperation in the sector, he said.

Current level of trade between Iran and Brazil stands over dlrs two billion and is expected to grow after lifting economic sanctions, said the Brazilian ambassador.
