Resistance of Syrian people and gov’t will protect country: Broujerdi

The chairman of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi met new Syrian ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud, on Tuesday, AVA diplomatic reports.

In the meeting, the chairman of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said we live we the Syrian nation, stressing the continuance of Iranian government and nation’s full support for the Syrian nation and leader against foreign conspiracies.

“Resistance of the Syrian people and government against pressures exerted by the world powers will protect the country against foreigners’ avarice in the future,” the chairman of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said in a meeting with new Syrian ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud.

The Iranian lawmaker reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s support for Syria and added that the Syrian government and people will proudly end the ongoing crisis in the country, and “will not allow the foreign conspiracy undermine the independence and sovereignty of Syria.”

“The Iranian people are sensitive about developments in Syria as their brother and friend country in the frontline of resistance against the Israeli occupying regime and feel responsible vis-à-vis the current development in the country,” he added.

Stressing that Resistance of the Syrian people and government against pressures exerted by the world powers will protect the country against foreigners’ avarice in the future, the chairman of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said Syria will play a stronger role in the region.

Mahmoud, for his part, lauded the strategic relations between Iran and Syria, and urged more cooperation between the two countries to boost the resistance front against the Zionist regime of Israel.

“The ongoing developments in Syria have prompted the countries in the region and the world to reconsider their views about us, and recognize Syria as a powerful country within and without its borders,” he added.

Calling Syria’s suspension from the Arab League a US conspiracy to weaken the main axis of anti-Zionist resistance, he said “the goal for the west and its regional allies is to damage Syria’s independence and sovereignty, to weaken its economy, and to politically and internationally isolate it in order to fulfill their own interests in the region”.
