Ambassador: Seoul trying to maintain political, economic ties with Tehran

South Korea’s ambassador to Tehran said Seoul is trying to maintain its political and economic ties with Iran, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Ambassador Ryu Jeong-hyun underlined that getting a waiver from US sanctions against Iran was a result of efforts made by the South Korean government and companies.

He made the remarks during a conference on joint economic opportunities between Iran and South Korea.

“Holding such a seminar indicates that we want to find a solution to the current problems and challenges, and to find a way to develop cooperation between the two countries”, he said.

South Korea’s envoy emphasized that Iran is one of the major countries in the region, saying that its population, area, natural resources and geographical location render it one of the most important countries in the Middle East.
