 Maku FTZ becoming northwest logistics center of Iran

Managing Director of Maku Free Trade Zone Organization of Iran says Maku FTZ airspace license was issued for the airport of the region in the past month and noted that Maku FTZ is turning into a northwest logistics center of the country by constructing an airport city, AVA Diplomatic reports.

On Saturday Gholamreza Soleimani said that in a meeting with the Turkish ambassador to Tehran the location of Maku airport as a 500-acre city was cited.

He added, “At this airport, the Turkish side can use this airport to develop combined tourism and refuel planes flying from the east to the west.’

He added, “In the Free Trade Zone of Maku, in cooperation with the police for Information and Public Security, there will be facilitated commute for foreigners, and from next months, foreign nationals can travel to the area without visas and seals.

He recalled plans for connecting Maku to the international railroad and said the railway would arrive at Cheshmeh Soraya in the event of a final approval by Turkey and after connecting it to Maku, it would be connected via Aras to Iran’s national rail network.
