A former Pakistani ambassador says that President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from Iran nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) shatters US credibility in the world, AVA Diplomatic reports.
In an interview with IRNA, Rustam Shah Mohmand said that Trump’s actions are contributing to America’s growing Isolation in the world.
He added by and large Trump’s decision to withdraw from Iran nuclear deal would isolate the US in the world, because this is absolutely duplicity and double standards and by unilaterally withdrawing from the agreement would strengthen Iran’s position in due course of time.
The expert said the US move would draw western European countries closer to Iran and it would create a distance between Western Europe and America, two traditional allies.
“I think we are beginning to see the emergence of a new political landscape of the whole world and Trump’s actions are contributing to American’s growing Isolation in the world,” noted the former ambassador.
The analyst said Trump walked out of the Paris climate change agreement, than he walked out of Trans-Pacific Partnership, now he has walked out of Iran nuclear deal, but these are recent examples, even in past Americans have been doing this.
“Americans believe that they have power and recourses and they can do anything and get away with it, so driven by the motive, they enter into an agreement and they break the agreement but now this pattern has become very disturbing and people would be very careful before entering into agreement with the US, now Americans credibility is at stake,” Rustam Shah Mohmand said.
“I think the Europeans are going to side with Iranians and are going to obstruct those restrictions that America would ultimately impose on Iran, I don’t think that Europeans will become party to that,” he said.
The analyst went on to say that Russia and China would come closes to Iran in future so this is a new phase of a confrontation between US on one hand and China, Russia and Europeans on the other.
He added that Europeans tried very hard to convince the US that withdrawal from the JCPOA is not in the interest of the US, the world or the region but Trump had his own agenda.
Rustam Shah Mohmand said there is no need to start Trump phobia, rather it has already started and it will come in an evolutionary manner.
