Workshop on City Diplomacy and City Development

The Secretariat of the Forum of Mayors of Iranian Megacities in cooperation of the Centre for Graduate International Studies-University of Tehran, Iranian Association of Cooperation with UNESCO and UN Information Centre in Tehran held workshop on “City Diplomacy and City Development: Action plans in international arena” for managers of municipalities in Iran at Ferdowsi Grand Hotel in Tehran on 10 May 2018, AVA Diplomatic reports.

During the workshop, the Director of Iranian Association of Cooperation with UNESCO Dr. Mohammad Reza Majidi, the Director of the Centre for Graduate International Studies-University of Tehran Dr Seyed Ali Sadat Akhavi, faculty member of Ferdowsi University Dr. Mohammad Javad Ranjkesh, faculty member and international consultant of Faculty of Geography of University of Tehran, the Rasht Mayor who is also the Director of Islamic Cities Forum and the UN Information Centre (UNIC) Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami-Farahani spoke to the participants.

UNIC Reference Assistant briefed them how to find UN information related to the sustainable cities through the UN website. She introduced the website of the UN Human Settlement (UN-Habitat) as well as the UN observances such as UN Habitat Day (3 October) and World Cities Day (31 October). She also provided the participants with a list of useful related links.

At the end of the session, the Head of the Asr Research Institute Dr. Majid Gholami who was also the secretary of the training session thanked all the speakers and the participants.

UN information materials were distributed to the participants.
