 Iran’s roads capable to fill vacuum of North-South Corridor: Envoy

India’s Ambassador in Tehran Saurabh Kumar said on Friday that Iran’s roads are of high quality, as they facilitate the transit of goods, filling the vacuum of North-South railway until its remained fragments are completed, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Addressing the flag raising ceremony of the North-South Corridor Friendship Rally, he added that Iran-Azerbaijan cooperation will greatly contribute to completion of North-South Railway Corridor in the coming years.

Describing commissioning of North-South Corridor as very significant for the member states, he said that launching the corridor will promote economic prosperity and development of neighboring states.

It will also help bolster job generation, economic development and trade relations of the member states, he said.

Indian envoy further noted that the objective behind holding the rally is to convey message of peace and friendship among India, Iran, Azerbaijan Republic and Russia.

The flag-raising ceremony of North-South Corridor Friendship Rally was held with representatives of Iran, India, Russia and Azerbaijan Republic in attendance.

North-South Corridor Friendship Motor Rally started on Monday concurrent with Persian Gulf National Day from Bandar Abbas Port.

After flag-raising ceremony, the participants in the rally left Tehran for Azerbaijan Republic to continue the competition in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The rally aimed at promoting cultural bonds among Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan Republic, India and Russia involves drivers from these countries who will drive along the corridor measuring 20,000 kilometers in length.

The rally that began in India in March will take the participants from India to Iran, then to Azerbaijan Republic and finally ends in Russia.
