 Envoy: Uzbek people feel friendly with Iranians

Uzbekistan Ambassador to Iran Bakhodir Abdullaev by pointing to Tashkent’s intention to expand relations with Tehran said on Tuesday that Uzbek people have friendly feelings towards the Iranians, AVA Diplomatic reports.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Governor General of Qazvin Abdol Mohammad Zahedi during his one-day visit to the province.

Abdullaev said using capacities and commonalties between the two countries may lead to deepening mutual cooperation.

He added that preparing suitable grounds for increasing cooperation and consolidating ties are among goals of embassy’s presence in different Iranian provinces, including Qazvin.

The ambassador explained economic capacities of his country in the field of energy and mine, and said that Uzbekistan, after China and India, is the largest producer of cotton in Asia.

The exchanging volume level in preceding year between Uzbekistan and Iran was 420 million dollars, 80 percent of which belongs to cotton.

Governor General of Qazvin said literature and art works of the two nations indicated close relations between the two peoples.

He added that because of some problems in the field of tourism between the two countries, people of the both states have less knowledge and awareness of each other, while there are plenty of commonalties between the two nations.

The governor general explained economic capabilities of Qazvin province and expressed readiness for the establishment and strengthening economic relations with Uzbekistan.

Abdullaev is visiting Qazvin province to get acquainted with industrial capabilities of the province and considering opportunities for investment.

Uzbekistan has population of 31 million and its capital is Tashkent
