German Ambassador to Iran Michael Klor-Berchtold voiced his country’s readiness to help Iran protect its magnificent cultural heritage, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Klor-Berchtold, who was speaking at the unveiling ceremony of documentation and restoration project of Chaharsoogh in Tehran’s Grand Bazar which was implemented by Iranian and German restorers, added that the bazar is a colorful blend of trade, tradition and culture in Iran’s capital Tehran.
The envoy said that Germany and Iran have cooperated in the restoration of several projects such as Sistani House in Bam Citadel which had been fully restored to its former glory after its destruction in Bam earthquake in 2003.
The 18th-century building was renovated by German academics and restorers from Dresden University through a decade-long collaboration with their Iranian counterparts.
Restoration of Chaharsoogh demonstrates that its protection is not only attractive for experts, archeologists and historians, but also influences all walks of life, he said.
Mohammad Beheshti, head of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism said that the project is of high significance and can pave the way for further Irano-German cooperation.
