Syrian Ambassador to Iran Adnan Mahmoud called for establishment of a joint chamber of trade with Iran and holding of conference on the two countries’ commercial opportunities, AVA Diplomatic reports.
In a meeting with the Head of Iran Chamber of Trade, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Gholamhossein Shafei, he added that the Syrian government has allocated suitable facilities for Iranian economic activists.
Describing cooperation with Iran as the Syrian government’s priority, he said that reconstruction of the country’s infrastructures and national economy has begun and the country’s doors are open to Iran’s private sector.
The two countries are partners in establishing regional security, he said, calling for taking solid steps towards strengthening bilateral relations.
Mahmoud also proposed that a conference on the two countries’ commercial opportunities be held in Tehran.
Describing the region as a big market of 140 million, he said that effective presence in the market requires further cooperation between the two countries.
Shafei, for his part, said that if necessary incentives are provided for Iran’s private sector, it will certainly take part in the country’s reconstruction.
Welcoming holding of a conference on the two countries’ trade opportunities, he said that Iranian economic activists need accurate information about Syrian market to cooperate with their counterparts.
Iran’s exports to Syria in the eight months to November 21, 2017, amounted to $166,942,970 while imports stood at $7,784,322 during the same period.
