NGO Green Life Village in partnership with UNIC Tehran organized a ceremony to mark the International Day of Peace, AVA Diplomatic reports.
More than 100 participants attended the event and learned more about Peace, the key UN value. The event also included reciting Persian poetry on peace, performing traditional Persian music, classical and Iranian piano performances, essay on history and tradition of Iranian people’s love for peace, exhibition of Persian calligraphy and hand-woven carpets depicting peace on Wednesday 13 September 2017.
Historic and unique documents and photos featuring special moments of UN-Iran partnership were also exhibited during the ceremony. This exhibition is prepared jointly by UNIC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and supported by IRNA news agency.
Addressing the guests at the venue of Green Life Village in “Enghelab Sports Complex”, UNIC Director Maria Dotsenko while thanking Managing Director of Green Life Village Institute Alireza Shahiri, his colleagues Mehdi Mansourian and Ali Dashti for organizing the Peace Day event, said that this day is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
Referring to the theme of this year’s Day of Peace which is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”, she said: “That the theme honours the spirit of TOGETHER, a global initiative that promotes respect, safety and dignity for everyone forced to flee their homes in search of a better life.
Dotsenko added that campaign: TOGETHER unites the UN Institutions, the 193 UN Member States, the private sector, civil society, academia and individuals in a global partnership in support of diversity, non-discrimination and acceptance of refugees and migrants. She also spoke about various Iranian peace initiatives which were supported by the UN.
The ceremony continued by poem reciting on peace in the Persian literature by Saeed Biabanaki and Tar performance by Faramarz Kalantari. Then Ms. Abnoos Sadeqi from the campaign on safeguarding Asiatic Cheetah delivered her speech followed by a video clip on Asiatic Cheetah.
Young pianists from Tabriz, the capital of West Azarbaijan Province Ali Mootabi and Paniz Khakpour performed Etude No12 op 10 F. Chopin, Polonise A flat major op 61 F. Chopin and Albeniz from Asturias. In addition pianist Nazanin Rezaei performed Iranian piece called “Khoshe Chin”.
Sara Zamanian read her essay on Iranian people’s love for peace. She said dialogue and tolerance have been as an inalienable parts of Persian culture and literature which can be seen in Iranian folklore stories.
Musician and singer Omid Hojjat sang along with pianist Abass Latifi and saxophonist Iman Jafari the following songs: Peace and Love, Wise men and Love story.
During the ceremony hand-woven carpets made by Yaghoob Abdi Shahsavar and Massoud Shabani as well as calligraphy works by master calligraphist Ehsan Rasoul-Manesh depicting peace were displayed for the participants.
