Ambassador of Azerbaijan Republic to Tehran, Buniyad Huseynov, said on Monday that President Ilham Aliyev is to visit Iran in the near future, AVA Diplomatic reports.
The ambassador made the remarks in a meeting with Head of Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Aladdin Boroujerdi, here on Monday.
He said Azeri citizens have no need to receive visa for entering Iran and from beginning of the (Christian) New Year, Iranian citizens will receive electronic visa to enter Azerbaijan Republic.
The ambassador offered his condolences on demise of a group of Iranian firefighters, who lost their lives in Plasco building collapse and fire incident.
Considering Iran-Azerbaijan historical relations, Huseynov expressed his country’s interest to strengthen and expand politico-economic relations.
He added that last year, level of trade between the two countries increased by 45 percent to 320 million dollars.
Boroujerdi, recalling religious, cultural, historical and political commonalties of the two states, called mutual relations ‘deep rooted.’
Considering suitable background of bilateral relations, ground for mutual cooperation is prepared, he added.
The lawmaker said connections between parliaments and governments of the two countries are in a high level, which should be used to promote bilateral relations.
The Iranian senior MP said meetings of the joint commissions could be important for promotion of ties and helping the two sides take firm steps towards consolidation and strengthening relations.
Referring to the conference in support of Palestine people in Tehran in March 2017, Boroujerdi said Iran has always been the supporter of the Palestinian fighters and people.
