 Iran, Portugal urge promotion of parliamentary ties

Special Aide to Parliament Speaker for International Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian and the outgoing Ambassador of Portugal to Tehran Mario Damas Nunes in a meeting on Monday underlined promotion of parliamentary ties, AVA Diplomatic reports.

During their meeting, Amir Abdollahian welcomed formation of Tehran-Lisbon parliamentary friendship group in the Portuguese parliament.

Iran-Portugal parliamentary friendship group will be also formed in Iran in the near future, the official said.

Iran is ready to promote ties with Portugal, Amir Abdollahian said.

Praising Lisbon’s realistic stance on regional developments, the Iranian official urged resolution of Syria crisis through political means.

He also announced Iran’s support for the UN Special Envoy for Syria.

Nunes for his part said that Lisbon is eager to enhance ties with Tehran in all fields including the parliamentary affairs, tourism and students and academic exchange programs.
