 Iran prevents transit of narcotics destined for Europe

A senior Iranian commander said here on Monday that the Islamic Republic would not only prevent drug trafficking inside Iran but also stops the transit of narcotics destined for Europe, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The commander of Iran’s border police, Brigadier General Qassem Rezaie made the remarks in a meeting with Turkmenistan Ambassador to Iran Ahmet Gurbanov.

He said Iran is forerunner in fighting narcotics and is sternly tackling drug traffickers.

Touching upon Iran-Turkmenistan religious and cultural commonalities, he added the two countries enjoy cordial relations.

Rezaie also voiced Iran’s readiness to share its valuable experiences in tackling drug trafficking with its neighboring country, Turkmenistan.

Gurbanov, for his part, said Iran is considered as Turkmenistan’s best neighbor and a friendly country.

Citing Turkmenistan-Iran relations as exemplary, he added no country could hinder reinforcement of amicable ties between the two nations.
