 Vietnamese envoy: Hanoi to continue cooperation with Tehran

Vietnam’s Ambassador to Tehran called for the further expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries, AVA Diplomatic reports.

‘In many areas we can broaden our economic relations with Iran and eliminate the third countries,’ Nguyen Hong Thach said in a meeting with Kerman Governor General Alireza Razm Hosseini in Kerman city on Sunday.

The Vietnamese welcomes Iran’s export of pistachio and dates to his country, and said, ‘Vietnam can also export rice in lieu of these products.’

The Kerman governor general, for his part, said that Kerman province is ready to boost communications with Vietnam and benefit from economic opportunities.

In a relevant development in October, Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Hanoi Saleh Abidi voiced his country’s interest in the further expansion of political, diplomatic and parliamentary ties with Tehran.

He said the agreement reached between Iran and Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members – the US, Britain, France, Russia and China – plus Germany) on July 14, 2015 has created new opportunities for the promotion of cooperation between Hanoi and Tehran.

The Iranian envoy, for his part, highlighted numerous areas of potential cooperation existing between the two capitals.
