 “Chinese President to Soon Visit Iran,” Says Pang Sen

China’s Ambassador to Tehran Pang Sen said on Monday that Chinese President Xi Jinping is to visit Iran in the near future, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Pang Sen said directors and representatives of 12 main media of China are to meet with Iranian media representatives.
He said regarding common stances of Iran and China, the Chinese President’s visit to Iran can be a turning point in expansion of mutual cooperation, in the media domain in particular.
Noting that Beijing believes in independence and sovereignty of all countries, the Chinese ambassador said, ‘We believe that nations should decide their own fate and other countries should not dictate their decisions on them.’
‘Certain Western states, especially the US, are not happy with development and progress of countries like Iran and China and by using media tools, they try to distort images of these countries.’
Underlining expansion of Iran-China cooperation in various commercial and trade grounds, he emphasized media and cultural cooperation with an aim to unveil realities of both countries in the region and the world. He also appreciated support of Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance for media offices of China in Iran and hoped that in the near future, the two countries’ media cooperation will be upgraded.
He then said a media delegation from China will visit Iran to meet and consult with Iranian media directors and activists on expansion of mutual cultural relations.
He said inking of a memorandum of understanding on mutual media cooperation and holding photo exhibition in Iranian National Library are among other cultural programs on the sidelines of Chinese President’s Iran visit.

Entezami, for his part, welcomed Chinese the President’s Iran visit in the near future and said it is hoped to result in expansion of mutual cultural and media cooperation and relations. He said expansion of media diplomacy is of high importance for Iran because in today’s world, nations can play an effective role in expansion of bilateral ties.

He referred to the presence and activity of five Chinese media in Iran and hoped that media relations between Iran and China will future expand, helping make Iranian and Chinese nations further acquainted with each other and present a real picture of both countries.
He then noted that expansion of media cooperation will serve as a factor for promotion of the tourism industry. He said among programs of the Foreign Press Department of Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance is benefiting more from Chinese media.
A media delegation from Iran visited China late December to enhance bilateral media relations.
The delegation included a group of editors in chief, editors as well as managers of Iran’s media which traveled to China upon the invitation of China Journalists Association.
The seven-member delegation visited a number of Beijing and Shanghai’s cultural and media centers in three days.
