East Azarbaijan effective for enhanced ties with foreign states

Governor General of East Azarbaijan province said on Wednesday that East Azarbaijan province is effective for expansion of economic cooperation with foreign countries, AVA Diplomatic reports.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Armenian ambassador to Iran Artash Tumanian.
Esmail Jabbarzadeh said that President Rouhani’s government gives high priority to expansion of ties with the outside world, especially with neighbors, and the government has recognized East Azarbaijan’s outstanding role in that respect.
He said that after the implementation of the JCPOA and the termination of the sanctions a good opportunity for foreign investments in various fields, especially in mining sector of the East Azarbaijan province has emerged.
Meanwhile, Jababrzadeh appealed to the Armenian government to exercise greater sensitivity to block the path for smuggling of goods from that country to Iran.
The Armenian ambassador, for his part said that relations with Iran are among the high priorities of Yerevan’s foreign policy.
He said that policies of the Armenian government have never been contradictory with Tehran’s ever since the independence of Armenia Republic.
‘At the time of declaring Armenia’s independence there was no connection route between Iran and Armenia, but today there are several of them and there are also construction of new high standard roads underway to link the two countries.’
The ambassador at the same time complained that the Iran-Armenia trade ties are not satisfactory not matching the excellent diplomatic relations.
