Montenegro’s Foreign Minister Igor Luksic voiced his country’s willingness to broaden bilateral ties with Iran, AVA Diplomatic reports.
“I express my country’s readiness to develop and deepen cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Luksic said in a message to his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Friday.
He, meantime, congratulated Zarif on the occasion of the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and said, “I am confident that this will secure your country’s prosperity and interests.”
Luksic also said that he is ready to cooperate with Zarif to continue and strengthen the friendly ties between Tehran and Podgorica.
In relevant remarks last February, Advisor to Montenegro President for Foreign Affairs Dragisa Burzan voiced his country’s determination to expand relations with Tehran, specially in economic and cultural spheres.
“We consider Iran as our good friend and parallel with Iran’s good cultural activities in Montenegro, we can have good cooperation in economic field,” he said in a meeting with Iranian non-resident Ambassador to Podgorica Majid Fahimpour.
He also appreciated President Hassan Rouhani for inviting the Montenegro President to Tehran, and said that the invitation has been accepted and what remains to be done is the preparations for the presidential visit.
For his part, the Iranian diplomat stressed that the further expansion of bilateral ties will be in the interest of the two countries, adding that the year 2015 will be the year for broad expansion of mutual cooperation thanks to the visits of the both countries’ officials.
