Iran Chamber of Commerce to be established in Astrakhan

Head of Gilan Province Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Hadi Tizhoosh-Taban said on Sunday an Iranian Chamber of Commerce will be opened and activated in Astrakhan, Russia in a few months’ time, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Tizhoosh-Taban said in a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Iran, the members of Gilan Province Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture and the new Russian Consul General in Rasht that the Iranian Chamber of Commerce belongs to the entire Iranians as the chamber of other Iranian provinces, too, have announced readiness to contribute to its establishment.
He meanwhile announced that a memorandum of understanding has been signed with Astrakhan officials for the installment of a statue of Iranian poet Hakim Omar Khayyam in Astrakhan within five months from now.
Tizhoosh-Taban said that the volume of Iran-Russia trade is unacceptable, reiterating that if Russia cooperate more effectively on quarantine of the Iranian agricultural products Iran will be able to increase its trade volume with that country.
He said that holding trucks carrying Iran’s agricultural products in Astrakhan leads to degradation of those products.
Russia’s Astrakhan province is located on the northern coasts of the Caspian Sea and numerous economic, commercial, political, and cultural delegations of that province visit Iran’s Gilan and Mazandaran provinces each year.
