 New chapter in Iran, S Korea ties

Iranian deputy labor minister has announced the country’s willingness to open a new chapter in relations with South Korea, AVA Diplomatic reports.

At a meeting with the South Korean Ambassador to Tehran Kim Sung-ho, Iran’s Deputy Labor Minister and head of the Organization for Technical and Vocational Training Mohammad Amin Sazgar Nejad expressed eagerness towards opening of a new phase in international cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the world, saying that investigation of possible venues for joint collaboration with other countries in the field of strengthening labor force and vocational training has been put on the agenda of the organization.”

 “A relevant plan has been developed in the Organization for Technical and Vocational Training which will hopefully provide the ground for expansion of ties with South Korea in coordination with the Asian countries embassy in Tehran,” he added.

The official enumerated the topics discussed at the meeting including establishment of specialized vocational training centers in the automotive and electronics, audio and video industries in collaboration with Korean companies in Iran, transfer of South Korean’s technology through technical training as well as educational development especially in relation to products imported from South Korea to Iran in order to provide a balance between the imports from Korea and educational services in addition to interaction between Iranian and South Korean experts.

Sazgar Nejad noted the issue of unemployment, stressing that the key to sustainable relations with countries like south Korea is for them to create job opportunities for young Iranians as well as the export of their products.

 “We expect the South Korean embassy in Iran to take steps in the field of human resource development through vocational training,” he underlined.

Kim Sung-ho, the South Korean Ambassador to Tehran, for his part, referred to his country’s possession of huge amounts of information about the Islamic Republic of Iran with an emphasis on human resources; “Iran possesses huge natural resources which Korea is deprived of and South Korea’s economic development is largely dependent on human resources.”

He announced his governemnt’s interest in cooperation with other countries in the field of human resource development since its positive effects on the development of South Korea has been proven.

 “Vocational training remains as the top priority of our embassy in Tehran,” said the official, adding, “we seek to deepen ties between the two countries by defining projects in the field of vocational training.”

The South Korean ambassador also highlighted that Iran’s main resource is its labor force rather than oil or natural resources which need to be developed; “we provide the conditions for Korean firms present in Iran to offer more extensive services with regard to training,” he concluded.
