Chinese media delegation to visit Iran

Managers and representatives of 12 Chinese mainstream media will accompany Chinese President Xi Jinping on a visit to Iran, announced Chinese ambassador to Iran, AVA Diplomatic reports.

Pang Sen stated this in a meeting with Iran’s Deputy Culture Minister for Press Affairs Hossein Entezami on Monday, adding that ties between Iran and China are expanding.

On Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit to Iran, Sen noted that the visit can be turning point in regional and international relations, particularly in the area of media cooperation.

He said that a number of Western countries, especially the US are not pleased with the expansion of ties between Iran and China and that’s why they seek to tarnish the images of the two countries in the media.

Highlighting the expansion of Iran-China cooperation in trade and commerce, he underlined that media and cultural cooperation can bring out the realities of both countries to the region and the world. He also appreciated the support of Culture Ministry for Chinese media in Iran.

During the Chinese president’s visit, the two countries will sign an agreement on media cooperation and hold a photo exhibition titled ‘Beautiful China’ in Iran National Library and Archives.

Entezami noted that expansion of media cooperation will serve to promote tourism. He said the Foreign Press Department of Iranian Culture Ministry aims to benefit more from Chinese media. A media delegation from Iran visited China late December to enhance bilateral media relations.

The delegation, included a group of editors-in-chief, editors as well as managers of Iran’s media, was invited by China Journalists Association.

The seven-member delegation visited a number of Beijing and Shanghai’s cultural and media centers during its three-day trip.

The Iranian representatives met Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director General of Western Asia and North Africa Deng Li as well as Iran’s Ambassador to China Ali Asghar Khaji.
