Seminar and film show on the occasion of World Food Day

UNIC NIO Mohammad Moghadam red the SG’s message during a seminar organized here on the occasion of World Food Day by the Science and Research Unit of Islamic Azad (Open) University (IAU) at the university’s Allameh Helli Hall on 18 October 2014, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The conference began by the remarks of the Secretary of the Seminar and member of the scientific board of IAU Dr. Javad Razmi on food security. Then Agro-ecologist Dr. Seyyed Shahbeddin Moeinoddini briefed the participants on “moral in agricultural production”. Mr. Ahmad Taheri was the third speaker at the seminar who talked about “the culture of slow food and economic resistance”.

Member of scientific board of IAU Dr. Seyyed Ziaoddin Mazhari delivered a speech on “the fast foods’ health harms” for the participants. “Adopting the food culture of people with Iran’s dry climate” was the subject of lecture by Dr. Reza Haqparast who is the member of the Scientific Board of the Dry Farming Research institute of Iran.

The seminar ended with screening of a film entitled “From Garbage to Food” on some of achievements of a joint project between Hormod Sustainable Development Institute and UNDP’s Small Grant Programme (SGP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF.(
