Iran attaches importance to expansion of ties with Iraq: Rouhani

President Hassan Rouhani said here on Sunday that Iran attaches great importance to expansion of relations with neighboring country of Iraq, AVA Diplomatic reports.
President Rouhani made the remarks while receiving the letter of credentials of Iraqi new Ambassador to Tehran Rajeh Saber Abbood Al-Musawi.
President Rouhani also expressed hope that peace and security could be established in Iraq.
‘Without doubt, establishment of peace and tranquility in Iraq is the same as establishment of security and serenity in the Islamic Republic of Iran,’ he added.
‘Iran and Iraq enjoy vast untapped potentials for expansion of relations in economic, cultural, and political arenas,’ he added.
‘We wish victory for the Iraqi people in fighting terrorism and hope that all Iraqi ethnic groups live within a nation in peace and full security,’ President Rouhani said.
Al-Musawi, for his part, stressed that Iran is his second country. The Iraqi diplomat also called for reinforcement of friendly relations with Iran.
