 Austrian President Heinz Fischer arrived in Tehran for 3-day official visit.

At the airport, the president was welcomed by Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Ne’matzadeh, AVA Diplomatic reports.

He is scheduled to meet with President Hassan Rouhani, Chairman of Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and other senior officials. President Fischer is to visit historical and cultural sites in Isfahan.

Iran’s Ambassador to Vienna Hassan Tajik termed very important the visit to Iran of the Austrian president, the first leader the European Union member states, after the nuclear deal.

Austrian President in a note, which was published by ‘Iran Daily ‘, wrote that upon invitation of Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani, he will pay an official visit from September 7 to 9 to Iran.

He wrote; ”I am so pleased for the invitation and this would be my second visit to Iran after year 2000 when I came here as parliament Speaker.’

He added that history of close relations between Iran and Austria dates back to more than 160 years ago.
