Families of released Iranians laud Turkmen ambassador

Families of ten released Iranians who had been detained in Turkmenistan, praised the efforts done by Iranian and Turkmen officials including the Turkmenistan ambassador to Tehran, AVA Diplomatic reports.

The families of released Iranians thanked Ahmet Gurbanov the Turkmen ambassador.

Ten Iranians who had been detained in Turkmenistan were released and returned home on February.

Among those released were four Iranian fishermen who were arrested by the Turkmen border guards on November 6, 2014 after they mistakenly entered the country’s territorial waters due to stormy weather.

The release of Iranian detainees in Turkmenistan followed a request made by Iran in the course of the 11th Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Consular Commission meeting held in Ashgabat last month.
