Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Euro-American Affairs Majid Takht-e Ravanchi said on Monday that Iran and “Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America” share common stance on various issues and can develop extensive cooperation within the framework of NAM, AVA Diplomatic reports.
He made the remarks in a meeting with ambassadors of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Latin American states on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of emerging the ALBA.
Takht-e Ravanchi said Iran attaches great significance to expansion of relations with the Latin American states, especially the friendly allies.
Referring to excellent political relations of Iran with the ALBA states, Takht-e Ravanchi said the two sides share common grounds for mutual economic cooperation.
Iran is ready for expansion of cooperation and extending technical and engineering assistance to the countries with the aim of removal of impediments.
Meanwhile, he praised the Cuban government and nations 50-year resistance to the US sanctions, and said unilateralism and economic sanctions have proved to be ineffective and inefficient tools.
Nicaraguan ambassador, on behalf of the ALBA states, expressed hope that the ALBA states will move in line with unity and convergence of the Latin American states.
Venezuelan Ambassador said that sanctions imposed by the Western governments on Iran have proved to fail.
Cuban ambassador thanked Iranian government and nation for standing by the Cuban government and nation for long years.
The Ecuadorian ambassador for his part underlined expansion of mutual cooperation.
The eleven member states are Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, Grenada, Nicaragua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Venezuela.
Suriname was admitted to ALBA as a guest country at a February 2012 summit.
