The Iranian foreign ministry on Tuesday voiced satisfaction in the opening of Turkey’s new consulate general in the shrine city of Mashhad, describing the move as a significant stride in the expansion of relations with Tehran, AVA Diplomatic reports.
Head of Foreign Ministry Representative Office in North and East of Iran Gholam Abbas Arbab Khales announced that Turkey opened a consulate general in Mashhad, capital of the Northeastern Province of Khorassan Razavi.
The official went on to say that Turkey had two consulate generals in Tabriz and Orumiyeh, and welcomed opening of the third diplomatic mission.

Iran and Turkey signed 10 economic agreements during a visit by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the head of a high-ranking delegation to Turkey in June.
Also President Rouhani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a phone talk in August pledged to do their best to explore news avenues for expanding all-out ties, and underlined the need for both Tehran and Ankara to have closer cooperation over settlement of regional disputes.
