Iran Receives Saudi Envoy Credential

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdulahian said on Friday that his country “seeks to further ties with Saudi Arabia” in all spectrum, AVA Diplomatic reports.“This is because we believe that the vast influence and capabilities of the two countries could channel the developments of the region and the Islamic world to serve the interests of the Islamic world and thwart conspiracies,” he said.
The Iranian official made the remark as he was receiving the credentials of Saudi Arabia’s newly-appointed ambassador Abdulrahman bin Gharman Al-Shehri.
“On this matter it is appropriate for delegations to exchange visits in order to discuss all avenues,” he said, adding that “the Iranian foreign ministry will back the efforts of the new Saudi ambassador in the contributing to the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.”
For his part, the Saudi ambassador noted to “King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz’ positive view on relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Due to the wide scale capabilities of the two countries in the Islamic world, it is fitting that their relations be of the highest level. And, under the current sensitive circumstances in the region and the Islamic world, coordination and joint cooperation is crucial,” he added.
