Iranian artists to support WFP

To support the UN World Food Programme (WFM), over 100 Iranian artists will showcase their works in a gallery at Niavaran Cultural Center on Friday, AVA Diplomatic Reports.Negar Gerami, representative of the United Nations World Food Programme, noted the greatest objective of the UN as reducing the world hunger down to zero and said, “there are 800 million undernourished people around the world, while there is enough food in the world to feed everyone. We endeavor to end hunger.”
“Iran is not struggling with the hunger issue,” she maintained, “but that does not mean that we should be indifferent to this world issue. For this reason, once a year we attempt to raise awareness about world hunger on the occasion of World Food Day on October 16.”
Gerami pointed to the gallery which will showcase works by 100 artists at Niavaran Cultural Center and said, “this year we have a great art event ahead of us. This even is an opportunity to raise awareness about world hunger. About 100 artists have donated their works to us to be sold in support of combating hunger worldwide.”
The art gallery of 100 artists in support of combating hunger and on the occasion of World Food Day will open on October 17 at Niavaran Cultural Center, north of Tehran.
