the Director of UNESCO’s Tehran Cluster Office met with Dr Hossein Salar Amoli, Vice Minister of Science in International Affairs and Director of the Centre for Scientific International Cooperation at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, AVA Diplomatic Reports.During the meeting, Dr. Amoli talked about Iran’s universities and scientific institutes, and highlighted the important achievements of his country in science and higher education.
Ms. Kuisch Laroche mentioned that the UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office is interested in fostering greater collaboration and information exchange in the field of science between the Islamic Republic of Iran and its neighboring countries. In this context, Dr. Amoli and Ms. Esther Kuisch Laroche discussed different ideas for cooperation between science and technology parks in Iran and in Turkmenistan through UTCO. Dr. Amoli also mentioned scholarships and admission of students from neighboring countries into Iranian universities, as possible areas of collaboration through UNESCO programmes.
Lastly, they discussed a series of events that UNESCO is planning to organize to mark World Science Day for Peace and Development, and the Director of UTCO invited Dr. Amoli to attend the opening ceremony on 9 November 2014.
