 Russian envoy satisfied over Iran ties

The Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan said that he is deeply satisfied with the current level of ties between both countries, AVA Diplomatic reports.Dzhagaryan made the above-stated remark in an exclusive interview with the English-language newspaper ˈIran Dailyˈ on the sidelines of a ceremony to mark Pakistan National Day on Wednesday.

Dzhagaryan added that both countries have very active political consultations and are working very hard to improve ties.

“On Sunday, I am leaving for Gilan province to receive the Governor of Astrakhan Alexander Zhilkin who is to visit Mazandaran and Gilan provinces to discuss expansion of cooperation,” he said.

Dzhagaryan also noted the famous Russian novelist and social critic Leo Tolstoy’s, great-great-grandson, Vladimir Ilyich Tolstoy, his wife and a group of producers from Russian state TV are to travel to Tehran on April 28 to participate in a seminar to commemorate the Russian novelist.

On Iran’s nuclear issue and Russia’s cooperation with Tehran in this respect, he said, “Since Russia is a member of P5+1, it is committed to cooperate with other member-countries including the US, China, the UK, France and Germany.

However, simultaneously, the country also cooperates with Iran to resolve the issue. ˈWe have contacts with both sides on a regular basis. We are very hopeful to achieve favorable results in the next round of the negotiations which is set to be held in Vienna, Austria on May 13.”

Tehran and the six countries wrapped up their latest round of high-level nuclear talks in Vienna on April 9.
