After the presidential election was gloriously held, German Ambassador to Tehran Brand Erbel visited the head of Iranian Parliament’s Research Center Kazem Jalali, AVA Diplomatic reports.“The election showed that the government and the people stand by each other and I hope we will soon see further expansion of ties between Iran and other countries,” said Brand Erbel in his meeting with Majlis Research Center director Kazem Jalali.
He called the election excellent for the national identity of Iran, noting that the political content is not significant but it is the political process which matters more. “My mission in Iran is the best part of my career,” he added.
“Without any exceptions, any individual I met in Iran had a positive attitude and that is encouraging. Thus I can say there is no nation like that of Iran in the world, particularly in their hospitability,” the German envoy reiterated.
In the meeting, Majlis Research Center director also explained the structure of the Research Center. “We are trying to establish links with state-run and parliamentary research centers in Germany and European countries use their experience in the areas of parliamentary and governmental research while we provide them our own experiences,” Jalali said.
“Scientific, research and cultural diplomacy is a good area for bilateral cooperation wherein activities can continuously go on,” he added, calling research cooperation can be effective in the expansion of bilateral relations between Iran and Germany.
“The June 14 election was the manifestation of the people’s demand and the realization of democracy in Iran,” reiterated Jalaji as he was speaking of the 11th presidential election and the 4th Islamic City and Village Councils.
The Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee member stressed the people’s participation rate is high in Iran’s election, saying 70 percent of those eligible to vote participated in the Friday election.
“Iranians demonstrated the maturity of the Iranian-Islamic civilization by their participation in the Friday election,” added the Iranian lawmaker.
Majlis Research Center director noted some thought Iranians would not participate in the election due to the sanctions and economic problems and but in contrast with such predictions, Iranians participated in the election more enthusiastically.
