 Afghan envoy meets Iranian Healthcare Minister

In a meeting with Iranian Healthcare Minister, Afghan ambassador to Iran stressed bilateral cooperation in healthcare and medical education, AVA Diplomatic reports.In the meeting, Afghan ambassador to Tehran Nasir Ahmad Nour noted some of the difficulties Afghan refugees and citizens have in using healthcare services, calling for the attention of the Iranian Healthcare Ministry officials to the refugees’ therapeutic conditions.

The Afghan envoy called the education of Afghan students in Iran quite useful. However, while thanking suitable grounds provided for the education of Afghan ambassadors, the envoy informed the healthcare Minister of some issues brought up by students such as the grade point average condition and increased tuitions, asking the minister to resolve them.

In his remarks, he called for further admission of those interested in continuing their education in universities under the supervision of the ministry and also facilitation of Afghan students’ admission in higher education courses.

Iranian Healthcare Minister Mohammad-Hassan Tarighat Monfared pointed to his meeting with Afghan Public Health Minister in World Health Organization General Assembly in Geneva saying he has invited Dr. Soraya Dalil to visit Iran to discuss the grounds for further bilateral cooperation as well as cooperation in the framework of G5.

Later in his remarks Tarighat Monfared called the two countries’ healthcare interactions good and bilateral meetings to investigate potential problems of Afghan nationals in enjoying healthcare services necessary.

He also called it a priority to investigate the students’ conditions and to resolve their problems as he asked the ministry’s international and education departments to investigate the problems discussed and prepare plans to resolve them in future sessions.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Healthcare Minister for International Affairs Dr. Niknam, Afghan embassy’s counselor Seyyed Mohammad Alemi, the embassy’s cultural attaché Assadollah Amiri, MFA Afghanistan Headquarters expert Mr. Mirian, and International Department of Iranian Healthcare Ministry’s Afghanistan expert Ms. Zera’ati.
